Well here we are folks ... with photos taken at the official Opening of our Festival of Quilts at beautiful Mont De Lancey on Saturday November 10th 2018. 'Twas a lovely day, very well attended and a privilege to be able to share our QFO 'story' with visitors to the Ray Oliver Gallery space where our Challenge Quilts were displayed for all to see and enjoy.
We thank Puffing Billy Railway for their contribution to our Event also ... an overview of our quilt display follows ...
A sample of our 'Gifting Quilts' which find their way during the year to those in need locally and globally.
Table of stitcheries for sale as part of our fundraising during the Festival.
Then we had a visit from Michael ... who is a quilter ... and an extremely talented one too. He showed us some of his works, three quite magnificent quilts that were beautifully pieced in different styles.
Aren't they just amaaaazing?? Thank you so much Michael for bringing them along for us be inspired by.
Before he left .. we asked Michael to vote in the 'Viewers Choice' part of our Challenge Quilt Competition.
Libby and Sinling ready to attend to our visitors ... and whilst that was happening we had some mail ...
Three lovely quilt tops arrived from a stitcher identified on the packaging as 'Smith' in Research .. and thank you so very much :) These will quilt up beautifully ... cannot wait to see them all ready to bind :)
This one above ^ put me in mind of paintboxes I had as a child ... lovely piecing :)
And this one was very clever too ... reminiscent of a leadlight window ...
The visitors start to arrive ....
Libby and Noelle .. two of our stitchers.
These are two of the beautiful 'face' quilts recently created by the talented children at Beaconhills Christian College. A wonderful representation that we treasure indeed.
Just part of our 'Team QFO' ... Deborah, Jenny, Christine and Annette ...
Our guest of honour Karina Noblett ... President of the Country Womens Association. Invited to officially open our Festival of Quilts.
Yvonne .. our custom quilter ... was then honoured for all the work she put into quilting our Challenge Quilt entries (as well as all the other quilting she does tirelessly for us during the year ... and over the years) ... well done Yvonne :)
Luncheon at Montys Tearoom was well attended and delicious :)
And that wraps up the start of our Festival of Quilts.. plenty more things on the agenda .. so do pop along if you haven't already. We'd love to see you :) Remembering that whilst our Mystery Workshop on the 17th has had to be cancelled ... everything else is 'full steam ahead' as the saying goes :)
Blessings,
Susan
