Here I am again ... and tonight I will do the Blog in two parts. The first part will showcase a wonderful batch of photos I was given today, whilst at our Christmas lunch, from the Ujaama Foundation, showing our quilts wrapped around the beautiful children in Tanzania that recently were gifted with our fabric 'hugs'.
We received these pictures from Roslyn Andrews of the Ujaama Foundation who explained that there was quite a process in getting the quilts from Australia to Tanzania. A generous donor covered not only the cost of air transport to Kiliminjaro, but also paid the taxes on their arrival. The Customs component of this was $240. It is absolutely heartwarming to know that there are generous people out there who are prepared to dig so deep in order to facilitate the delivery of these quilts in order for these precious children to benefit from our handiwork. The new regime in Tanzania is improving the economy in Tanzania through a new and fairer taxation system ... but obviously the impact of this trickles down to the importation and delivery of gifts such as our quilts to the organisations that need them. So many thanks to this benefactor, who I am sure will get as much pleasure as we do from seeing the children here with their quilts.
Stunning pictures and beautiful children I'm sure you will agree .. so without further ado ... here is what we are privileged to share with you.
So there you are ... isn't it wonderful to see where quilts that have been created by our willing hands and heart ... wrapped around children on the other side of the globe? And we look forward to 2018 being every bit as awesome as we continue to stitch and create our 'hugs'.
Thank you so very much Roslyn for sending us these pictures and I'm sure that there are many stitchers out there who will recognise their handiwork for QFO in the photos of these quilts.
And now .. I'll send this 'episode' of the Blog into cyberspace whilst I prepare Part 2 :)
