Well, as promised, here is Part 2 of our December Blogpost and it covers our end of year lunch at the charming Rose Cottage in Monbulk where we shared a festive meal and also paid tribute to our Founder Gaynor as she and husband Reg prepares for their 'seachange' ... leaving us in the capable hands of her successor Annette Stone.
Soon joined by Deborah and Noelle ....
An overview of the jolly company enjoying the hospitality of Rose Cottage ...
Gaynor ... with our new leader ... Annette.
Pauline made a presentation of a beautiful photographic collage of our decade as Quilts for Orphans ... as a memento for Gaynor. And 'Ooops' I totally got caught up in the excitement and utterly forgot to photograph it. I will endeavour to rectify this oversight and update with a picture as soon as I can.
Pauline and Gaynor ...
Julie and Ian ...
Val and Win ....
Don ... with adoring wife Yvonne :)
Christine and Noelle ...
Deborah and Mel ....
And finally ... Deborah ..... having locked in NEXT years booking for Christmas lunch 2018 ... departs Rose Cottage at a cracking pace :)
And that, dear reader, winds up this pre Christmas Blogpost. But ... before I finish .. a special Thank You to Nellie Sutherland who so very kindly posted us a package of beautiful handmade cards which we will be able to use as part of our fundraising in the coming year. Such a beautiful gesture and we thank you so very much Nellie. I handed them to Deborah who is the custodian of our sales items. And apologise for being remiss in photographing them yesterday. But rest assured I'll rectify that oversight in double quick time and post a few photos here. They really were delightful and will certainly be a popular item at our next fundraiser :)
We will be back in the New Year and I will most certainly be blogging my socks off again for you on behalf of Quilts for Orphans. We will have a new 'temporary' home as we await our next permanent place in which to create our quilts. And I look forward to keeping you all up to date with our progress in that area. Look out for a January Blogpost which will confirm the location of our first gathering in February. It will be, as usual, the second Saturday in that month. Tentatively booked to take place in Wellington Cottage in Monbulk.
In the interim I wish you all a beautiful and Blessed Christmas and a New Year that treats each and every one of you with much kindness. Thank you all for your support in 2017, the stitched items that you have created and donated to us, the fabric gifted to us and all the positive encouragement that has seen us able to bless so many, both at home and abroad, with our fabric 'hugs'. I know that we will continue to create and gift our quilts in 2018 and I will so very much enjoy sharing through this Blog all that we do each month at our monthly Quilting sessions.
