Hello again ... tis I .. with a late news announcement in the form of a sincere Thank You (with photos) to our most recent benefactors.
Firstly a story of a meeting at our recent Mont De Lancey weekend between our Deborah and a delightful gentleman Brian Pinches, who was there with two of his magnificent draught horses as part of the Draught Horse and Yesteryears Festival at the historic property.
Brian has a business called 'L for Leather' based in Traralgon and now I will let Deborah continue, in her own words, with the story of what transpired during and after their meeting .
'Brian introduced himself to us at the Mont De Lancey Draught Horse Festival Weekend. He was there with 2 of his beautiful draught horses. He asked us about QFO's and decided to offer us bolts of fabric, wool wadding and other bric a brac that was surplus to his needs. So Christine and I drove down to Traralgon to pick up all the goodies.
We now have fabric for the Indonesia bean bags, velcro for sealing the cushion covers plus a gorgeous bolt of wool wadding that may work as a quilt filling as well as the backing. Yvonne is experimenting as we speak. We also met another Draught Horse club member named John. Whilst Brian makes harnesses and Peter makes horse blankets, John makes knee rugs from his off cuts and decided to take Brian's lead and donated a beautiful rug to QFO's. They are both impressed with our group and happy to lend a hand.'
How amazingly kind and generous (as well as talented) are these wonderful fellows eh? Thank you all so very, very much for your kindness and support
I was also a tad remiss in not capturing on film on Saturday the beautiful handcrafted cards made by Nellie Sutherland for us. These will be a marvellous addition to our next fundraising stall and we thank you so very much Nellie. They are absolutely gorgeous and you are so very talented ... and kind.
And finally ... as well as attending our Christmas lunch last Saturday at lovely Rose Cottage in Monbulk, our Deborah multitasked her socks off just prior ... by having a QFO stall at the Monbulk Fair for a couple of hours before lunch. What stamina she has!!
And I am thinking that perhaps we have other donations that have been sent to us over the last month or so ... that I have yet to see and photograph. So please, if you have gifted us your handiwork and think that we haven't used our manners to thank you ... it is only due to the fact that with Reg and Gaynors move ... we have had to put a lot of our QFO belongings in storage over the Christmas break. As soon as we resume in the New Year I will be checking our stored items and attending to any parcels that have arrived.
Now its very nearly my bedtime, so I'll put this Blogpost 'out there' into cyberspace and wish you all a most blessed Christmas and wonderful New Year. I look forward to writing more QFO news as soon as it is to hand ... many thanks for all your support and encouragement in 2017 and we trust that 2018 will be even more fulfilling for us all.
