Well Hello there again .... and another Blogpost gets written ... keeping you up to date with what we have been achieving since I last put fingers to keyboard in May. Now we gathered at the Barn on Saturday June 11th, a merry band of stitchers ... comprised of Val, Jan, Win, Carol, Yvonne, Sandi, Christine, Pauline, Maxine, Julie, Emily, Alice, Alison ... and yours truly.
However, before I launch into this months Blog though, I have to tell you that sadly, due to circumstances beyond QFO'S control, the previously reported gift of 200 quilts to Israel has not been able to be accomplished. However we will continue to support other needs across the globe with our quilts, as we have been able to do since our inception.
And in light of that, here is the lovely Thank You certificate we received recently, following our donation of a quilt to the Angel Gowns fundraising Gala. Always great to receive feedback on our donations :)
Since we last gathered we have had some lovely donations, of fabric, quilt tops and threads ... all most welcome and very much appreciated. From local lass Chelsea Aldridge (who makes lovely childrens clothes), we received a large box of fabric pieces which we look forward to incorporating into our quilts. I will post a Link to Chelseas sewing site at the end of the Blog.
We received also in recent weeks some lovely packages of quilt tops ... firstly from Julia Ozolins in Yarragon (a supporter of several years) 6 beautiful quilt tops and some lovely bear 'blocks' and fabrics. Here are just two of the beautiful tops Julia sent, beautiful aren't they?
I look forward to seeing these cute bears placed in a quilt soon .... you haven't seen the last of them ... many thanks Julia :) And your donation of fabric will also be worked into quilts we create. Thank you so much for your generosity ...
And from Pauline Knight in Nundah Queensland ... four beautiful quilt tops. Pauline explains in her accompanying letter how she heard of us ...
Absolutely LOVE the randomness of Paulines piecings ... each one incredibly original. Love them Pauline!!
And from K.Wright in Cobram ... a letter and some terrific quilt sets for China ... how wonderful!! Plus some sewing threads, always very welcome ... many thanks :)
And just look at the amazing finishing job done on the seams .... awesome .... these quilts will be so very sturdy. Brilliant! Absolutely love your work and we thank you so much ... look forward to as many tops as you feel inclined to bless us with, without our off-site stitchers we would not be able to achieve all that we are able to do for children across the globe.
And the very welcome donation of threads .... we use so very many reels as we stitch our quilts ....
Now a little 'Show and Tell' from our on-site stitchers, Jan and Emily ... firstly from Jan .. who does amazing work with fabric pieces large and small. She's an absolute whizz!!
And a dear little lap quilt ......
And from Emily ....
Lovely work Emily ..... love this one, very intricate indeed.
Remember last month we were making tote bags for the victims of the cyclone which hit Vanuatu? Well here are a few more of the bags that will soon be at Tannar Island courtesy of Gaynors sister who is organising delivery of them for us ... As Gaynor tells us "On Sunday I will deliver the 25 bags for Tannar Island to my sister and they will leave in July for the islands via a young man who is connected to Samaritans Purse."
Apologies for having to tilt your heads sideways to view .... my computer was deciding to challenge me ... and it succeeded.
But no such issues with the following pics of some of our members at the Barn on Saturday ... first we have Christine and Jan.
..... and Emily ....
Val and Win ......
Alice, Julie, Maxine .... and a teensy bit of Carol :)
..... and Yvonne .....
Now a short break for lunch .... and in honour of winter it was .... soup!! Followed by scrumptious desserts ...
And that, dear reader, winds up this Blogpost for now. We gather next at our Barn on July 9th ... when we will (after much sewing of course) lunch on warming winter casseroles. I look forward to reporting back to this audience on what has been achieved in the intervening weeks soon after.
Until then I will close this Blog with the usual acknowledgments to those we support ... and of course those who have supported us during our efforts to cover as many children as we can with our fabric hugs. I will also post our contact details .....
Till next Blogpost, thank you all so much for all the support and encouragement that we receive .... it is always most appreciated,
Blessings to all,
Susan
