Here we are again ... as merry a band of stitchers as you could ever wish to share a sewing room (or Quilt barn) with. We met again on August 8th and 'present and correct' were Sandi, Joy (and her pooch Bonnie), Alison, Isobel and grand daughter Ayla, the two Vals, Win, Yvonne, Jenny, Christine, Jan, Carol and Carol, Maxine and Emily and yours truly .... the scribe ;)
We were the happy recipients of more 'giftings' via the mail service ... as well as a home delivery of some beautiful handknitted infant cardigans which will be passed on to the Chinakids Hospice in China. These came from the Church of Christ in Montrose and stitched by one of their parishioners.
These were handknitted by Mrs Judith Kirkby and are absolutely gorgeous ... many thanks Judith, the babies at the hospice in China will look an absolute treat in these and you have truly blessed them.
From the mother and daughter team of Sylvia and Edith in North Ryde, we have received another two beautiful completed quilts ... many, many thanks ... your parcels are always opened with much glee :)
As anticipated .... the handiwork of Sylvia and Edith never fails to impress :)
From Donna Schubert in Katherine N.T, we received a completed quilt and a lovely quilt top ...
Beautiful applique work Donna ... just lovely :) This quilt top is a stunner ....
This is equally awesome from the front ................. ^ ................................
.... AND the back ......................... ^ ........................................ so very cleverly done Donna :)
It is always just wonderful to receive these beautiful fabric 'blessings' from our offsite stitchers. Many thanks ladies, we appreciate each and every stitch that you create for the children we provide quilts for, always inspirational to see what others can create with fabric and imagination. You inspire us :)
Now from our 'home grown' quilters. Firstly Jan ................. who created this absolute stunner.
Great use of really vibrant fabrics, pieced with flair and pizzazz!
And from Sandi, this Queen Size top. This will be a 'for sale' quilt, hopefully at our November Quilt Fair.
Joy has also been rather busy ..... in between spoiling her little canine sidekick Bonnie ...
...... she was busy creating this 'feline' themed quilt top :)
And then this lovely combination of colours ... so pretty :)
A short break for lunch .... Italian .... before we resumed stitching ...
Lining up for lasagne ;)
Then we were back to the job at hand .... stitching our little socks off ;)
Carol in the background handstitching bindings, whilst Val in front keeps equally busy at her machine.
Christine at the cutting table ...
Sandi ... wielding an iron with aplomb ... and a smile (I never look that happy near an iron ;)
Yvonne, Joy and Maxine ......
A veritable hive of activity ... Sandi. Alison, Emily, Win, Val and Isobel ...
Win, Val and Isobel .... our Barn is THE happiest of places to be :)
And that winds up the photo gallery ... it just remains to say that we are all gearing up for our weekend Quilt Fair in November. Planning just what stitched delights we will have to offer as our biggest fundraising and publicity event starts to take shape. I can say that there will be Christmas themed stitchings, wall hangings, table runners, fat quarters, as well as our quilts, dog beds and coats and more. Really promises to be a great event and we look forward to sharing with those who visit all the news about QFO.
We meet next on September 12th .... lunch theme being Chinese and desserts ... cannot wait :)
Until then I will leave you with the customary Links and acknowledgements for our quilt recipients and the folk who have supported us along the way as we have stitched fabric 'hugs' for children (and adults) around the globe.
Blessings all,
Susan :)
