Well Hello again ..... and here I am with the news from our June gathering at the Barn. Grab a coffee and make yourselves comfortable ..
Present on Saturday June 13th were : Val, Win, Sandi, Deborah, Christine, Jan, Val, Gaynor, Jenny, Julie, Alison, Alice, Emily, Maxine, Carol, Tracy ... and yours truly :)
First 'cab off the rank' .... we have our wonderful donations. It's always an absolute thrill to receive such generosity from our off-site supporters ... and this month was no exception. We truly appreciate the kindness of folk who share our vision and have a passion to contribute. These donations are just the icing on the cake as they help swell the number of quilts we are able to bless children and others in need with.
From Julie Harvey in Mount Eliza we were so very pleased to receive these two beautiful quilt tops ..
I was told that they are 'split 9 patch' design ..... and very effective too ....
Thank you so much Julie .... these tops are just lovely ... and we appreciate your contribution to QFO.
Next ... from Sandra Brazier in Nhulunbuy NT ... we have these two beautiful quilt tops and backings ..
Love the bright colours you've used .. they really are striking ....
Great tops Sandra ..... thanks so very much .... these will quilt up beautifully, and give such comfort.
Next from the mother and daughter team of Sylvia and Edith in North Ryde ... three completed quilts.
Love this 'windmill' style piecing ... isn't it effective?
Lovely dog themed prints in this one ....
And finally this floral and striped quilt ..... love the colours in this one .... ^ ......
Just lovely ladies ... we always look forward to your parcels :)
Now for our Show and Tell section .... stitchings from our regular members .... firstly from Sandi :
Sandi has a real eye for colours and this one above is no exception .....
Pastel and pretty ..... just lovely ......
Gorgeous fairy fabric make this one just so very pretty .....
A nice 'woven' effect with the sashings on the one above. Love it :)
And finally ... from Jan ... four quilt tops ... Jan makes amazing things with the smallest pieces of fabric .... this first one is 2 and 1/2 inch squares ..
I'm sensing an 'arctophile' theme here ;)
.... and 'flutterbies' .....
And just brilliant fabric patterns and piecing ... this is a beauty :)
Some of our happy stitchers .... in the handsewing corner of our Barn. Maxine, Alice, Carol, Emily and Alison :)
Julie, Gaynor, Sandi and Val ......
Christine and Julie having a tete-a-tete :)
Val .....
Aaaaaahhhh .... lunch. And what better on a winters day than Soup .... LOTS of soup :)
..... and ...... after the 'mains' ....
..... dessert!!!
So that was lunch done and dusted .... and now I will share with you something that makes our efforts to spread our fabric 'hugs' far and wide ... so worthwhile. Feedback :)
Gaynor shared with us some wonderful photos and words of thanks from the Jewels of Hope project in Lesotho. We had sent them a number of quilts and, well .... I'll let the following pictures speak for themselves eh?
It's always so wonderful to hear that our quilts have arrived and been so very well received. Absolutely delighted to get feedback like this.
We have also recently sent, through wonderful local church contacts, 60 quilts and 12 knitted blankets to refugees in our Western suburbs. This will quite possibly be an ongoing project for us to be involved with. Lovely to be able to help locally, as well as globally, with our quilts.
We also currently have 200 quilts ready to go to Israel and are just waiting on word as to how they are to be transported after collection from us. So, as you see, we continue to expand and multiply the number of agencies that we can help provide warmth and comfort through, to those who need it the very most.
And that just about winds up this months Blogpost ... it only remains for me to give our contact details ... and acknowledgement to our supporters, as well as a listing of those we have been able to help since we began.
We meet again next month ... on Saturday July 11th. The Lunch 'Theme' that day will be Curries and desserts ... most warming fare for this time of year, as well as a culinary 'nod' to the part of the globe that sparked this whole ministry .... India.
So, till next month ... thanks you again to all our supporters both here and afar ... and I look forward to sharing again with you soon,
Blessings,
Susan
