Hello everyone ... tis I, refreshed after the loooong holiday break and champing at the bit to get back to our Working Bees ... so thought I'd remind you that the first one for 2009 is just around the corner!! We will be meeting at Gaynors in Monbulk on Saturday February 7th at 9.30 a.m. The lunch theme (first things first in order of importance of course *wink*)... will be 'Cold meat and salad' .... so throw together your favourite summer salad plate, gather up your quilting supplies and join us. The day is expected to run till 4.30 p.m and we hope to have a full house ..... weather permitting we will be able sto stitch outdoors, it's always delightful on Gaynors porch ... sun shining, birds singing and the odd rooster serenading us in the distance :) absolute bliss!!!
It will also be 'Judgement Day' for the cot quilts that we have been putting together since being presented with our little parcel of stash from Gaynor and Rachel at our Christmas breakup at Rose Cottage in December. These quilts will be hopefully all completed and ready for 'assessment' before the winner is declared .... oooh the pressure!!! We hope that you have all had fun piecing together something stunning from the assortment of fabrics which we took home all those weeks ago ... can't wait to see the results!!
And have you seen the very latest copy of 'Australian Patchwork and Quilting' magazine? I am pleased to announce that Volume 17 No 8 is in the newsagents now (I got mine as part of a 3 pack deal, so more mag for my money ... and even more quilting ideas into the bargain). Back to the point ... and I did have one before I meandered off ... pages 36 to 38 have an article on our little group, how exciting is that!!! So hopefully this publicity will generate even more interest in our project to give each and every child in our Childrens Homes in India something from our hearts and hands to their lives. Grab your copy now and tell all your friends too!!
I hope that you have all had a lovely start to our year and I really look forward to being able to fill this Blog with more pictures soon .... apparently quilts were to be sent to India earlier this month with another Mission team, so with a little luck we will have photographic feedback on that for you in my next update.
So until then, keep stitching and for those wishing to help support us we are always more than happy to receive fabric donations, completed quilts, quilt tops ready for finishing, threads for stitching .... and naturally volunteers to join us. And of course I can't finish this Blog entry without again mentioning that we are STILL hoping that among our donations we hope to one day unwrap a shed big enough to fit our enterprise in. We are STILL overflowing poor Gaynors house, 'Big Beastie' the quilt machine STILL needs a proper home and we STILL know in our hearts that somewhere out there is a shed just waiting to come and do duty for us and this wonderful project .... bring it on!!!
You can contact Rachel on 0400 587 087 or email [email protected] or myself [email protected] for further information on Quilters for Orphans. Love to hear from you ... in the meantime .. blessings to all till next update,
Susan
