Where do I begin? What a windfall I have received over the last week or two from generous souls eager to donate fabric for our Quilts for Orphans project.
Firstly I must again thank Kayleen West, Newsletter Editor at Mount Evelyn Christian School who has been absolutely wonderful with the publicity that she has given our project ... as a result of which I was called up to the school last week to collect a bag simply brimming with the most beautiful fabric, donated by Melissa Grant, another Mum at the school ... thanks a million Melissa .. the quilts that your donation will create will make for some very blessed children in India very soon!
This photograph does not do justice to the amount of fabric that Melissa squeezed into her bag of goodies for us .... but the quilts it makes certainly will!!
I also received a call from Leanne Ingamells who is a member of the Lilydale Vineyard Church ... you will remember that we were invited to hold a display at their recent 'Sew Blessed' Quilt Fair. Leanne has presented us with two bags crammed to capacity with wonderful fabric pieces and many 'fat quarters' ... all donated by the kind ladies who are the 'Sew Blessed Quilters' .... what a wonderful gift indeed ladies ... and thank you all so very much!!
In addition we were also presented with a quilt .. all ready to go through our quilting machine (aka Big Beastie!) from one of their members Pam ... how wonderful Pam ... and what a beautiful quilt, I am truly knocked sideways by the kindnesses that are showered upon our group from fellow quilters! And Leanne has hinted that another quilt will soon be on its way ... thank you SO much Sew Blessed Quilters!!
These recent donations have added to the fabric stash (pictured below) which I received in recent weeks from Lesley and Jan, I can see I am going to need a hand unpacking my car boot at our next working bee!!
And speaking of car boots .. in addition to spreading word of our project thru the MECS Newsletter and her own weblog http://www.kayleenwest.blogspot.com .... Kayleen also tells me that she has a boot full of fabric that she has collected from her Mum .... brilliant effort Kayleen .. I cannot thank you enough!! Gaynor and Rachel WILL be thrilled .... I know I am!!
And now I am champing at the bit and eagerly awaiting the publication of the two articles on our project that will shortly appear in 'Australian Patchwork and Quilting' magazine ... and 'Patchwork and Stitching' ... I will be haunting the newsagent over the coming week or so .. will you? It will be interesting to see what flows on from this new publicity ... we were blessed beyond measure from the first article in February .... wonder what will come from the next? Perhaps the shed that we keep throwing out ever so subtle hints for .... hmmmn?
So ... till my next update ... happy stitching ... don't forget to check the previous Post for our Quilting Bee dates for 2009, would love to welcome you to join us if you can.
Susan
