OK folks ... you saw it here first ... above we see QFOs very own Rachel Breukel ... and in her hands is THE very latest edition of Patchwork and Stitching. Volume 9 Number 5. If we were to go and look at page 79 ... can you guess what we would see? I'll give you a hint .... it's an article on us!!
This is the long awaited follow up article to the one which P&S wrote on our Quilting for Orphans project back earlier this year (Volume 8 Number 3). That article resulted in the splendid donation of our quilting machine ... fingers crossed that we are again blessed with donations from the publicity that this article will generate. Apparently Rachel has already had a couple of phone calls ... good news indeed travels fast!!
So what are you waiting for .... my permission to go and grab a copy? Consider that a 'given' ... off you scamper .... and while you are at it, tell all your friends to grab a copy too :)
Now while I have your attention, I'll show you the final QFO gathering for 2008, which took place on December 13th at the delightful Rose Cottage restaurant in Monbulk. And not a quilt was in sight ... though we did each go home with a little parcel of fabric each and instructions to bring it back as a cot quilt in February ... thanks Gaynor!!
Above we have Inge, Lesley and Rachel on the left and Pauline, Joy and 'newbie' Isobel on the right.
Another new recruit Yvonne and hubby on the left & Tracy with Paulines husband Chris on the right ... we didn't make the lads take home fabric at the end of the night .. but next year ... maybe!!
Co-Founder of Quilts for Orphans Gaynor, with Alice & Helen . Susan, Inge and Lesley on right.
Keith Greenwood (Founder of COM) with Gaynors right hand man Reg. And Rachel receiving bouquet of appreciation for her efforts for the Quilters for Orphans (Gaynor got one too of course!!)
Chris, Pauline and Gaynor on left .... with Gaynor in the next picture receiving her well deserved bouquet for all her magnificent efforts and generosity for the Quilts for Orphans.
Helen and Keith Greenwood ... founders of Christian Outreach Missions. This wonderful couple started to change the lives of orphans in India by building orphanages with funds raised through Helens initiative, the Treasure Corner Opshop in Mount Evelyn. And now with our Quilts for Orphans we, in turn, are endeavouring to make the childrens lives that little bit more comfortable with our project of 2000 quilts.
So follow our Blog, feel more than free to offer your assistance, whether it be by donations of fabric, threads, willing hands and hearts to stitch with or for us ... we won't say NO to your support in whichever way you feel able to offer it.
Our next Working Bee will be on Saturday February 7th. From 9.30am to 4.30pm at Gaynors. This will also be... (drum roll...).... 'Cot Quilt Judgement Day', when those of us who received our little parcels of fabric at our breakup will be bringing along our completed cot quilts for judging .... apparently a prize is in the offing as incentive. Exciting stuff indeed .... hope to see as many as possible there!
