Hello again Folks ... have just received news and pictures from Rachel showing the quilts that we sent off in October to India in place in the childrens Home ... with the smiling faces of the kids saying more than any words could. They arrived, after a spell in Customs, just in time for Christmas ... how good was that timing eh?
So, without further ado, I am putting them here for you to see for yourselves just how much pleasure they have given ......
A carpet of quilts and no two are the same .... really personalises our gift to the children, doesn't it?
I love the sparkling eyes of the little one in pink here, she looks pretty chuffed with her quilt I think!
And here are the boys with their quilts. Check out the caps, am I imagining it, or are they Essendon supporters? They are certainly a long way from Windy Hill!
So there you have it Folks ... another group of children able to wrap themselves in our long distance hugs .... and even as I speak we are working on the next batch of quilts ... this will be a long term project and keep us all busy for the forseeable future. But with your support and encouragement along the way we will achieve our aim of being able to give each child in each home a little bit of our love for the years ahead. And one day they will surely be able to tell THEIR children of the day that a gift arrived from the other side of the world especially for them from us!
Now, for the benefit of anyone reading this Blog and wishing to make us a quilt top ... the dimensions that we are looking for are 45" wide by 60" long ... roughly the size that would fit on the top of a single bed. This will enable us to use the batting that we recently purchased without wasting any of it, as it measures (you guessed it!) 45" wide ... hows that for coincidence?.
Contact Rachel at [email protected] or myself at [email protected] and in the meantime look out for the Patchwork and Stitching magazine out now with our story in it. Volume 9 Number 5 page 79.
So have yourselves a very Happy Christmas and I look forward to being able to 'chat' to you again in the early New Year. Blessings to all who are behind us in this endeavour, may your Christmas be full of warm hugs and leave you with pleasant memories to look back on as you journey thru 2009... thank you for reading this and take care,
Susan
