Thought I would show you our booth for Missions Month at Careforce Church in Mount Evelyn . This is the display that Gaynor and Rachel organised to show what we are doing, and what we hope to achieve in our quest to give each child in each Home a little something to show how much we care ... in the form of a quilt stitched with love from us to them.
Here is Gaynor putting the finishing touches to the booth .... and wait till you hear about what happened with the splendid quilt that is the centrepiece to the display to her left ... but more on that later!
Some pictures of the children who have received quilts since we began this project ... along with some of the quilts which will be on the next shipment to India.
And here is the article from the Patchwork and Stitching magazine that started the ball rolling and helped us obtained such generous donations from so many companies and individuals ..... and we will have a follow up article in the same magazine in December .... isn't that wonderful!!
As well as the display of quilts that we are making and sending to the children in India, we also had created quilts and other craft items that we were selling, in order to generate a cash flow to enable us to purchase more supplies for the quilt project, thus supplementing that which is donated.
I might add that a number of these items were actually made and donated by the quilters themselves for sale .... which shows the depth of passion and desire to help make our project as successful as it deserves to be ... well done and thank you so much ladies ... you are truly awesome indeed!
Now for the item which I hinted at earlier ..the magnificent quilt which was created by Gaynor and Rachel .... hand beaded whilst Gaynor was in hospital recovering from a heart attack ... and which thus obviously has a lot of memories for them both. Here is a close up ... the amount of work which went into it was simply unbelievable.
Stunning, isn't it? Those two are so talented ... and this is a masterpiece to be treasured.
How 'bout that, eh? We are absolutely blown away by the sale of this piece .... Gaynor particularly. This will enable us to achieve SO much more for our project and we cannot thank enough the generosity of the purchaser. May you get much pleasure not only from the piece itself, but from the knowledge that you have helped so many children along the way ... bless you indeed!!
And of course we thank each and every person who patronised our booth, those who offered to help, those who showed interest in what we are doing, those who we hope we will see at our next working bee ... thank you all.
